Why We Stopped House Calls

Why Triad PC Support No Longer Offers House Calls

We decided to discontinue in-home services several years ago for several reasons, and we want to share those with you, as we still receive occasional requests for these services.

It's not cost-effective for you.

Computer repairs can be time-consuming, ranging from 4-10 hours or more for tasks like replacing a hard drive, reinstalling Windows, and transferring data. When these repairs occur in our shop, labor costs typically range from $120-$175+. However, performing the same repair in your home would result in labor charges skyrocketing to $260-$650 or even higher.

The reason for the disparity in labor costs is that our technicians can handle multiple repairs simultaneously in our office – often working on multiple repairs concurrently. Our technicians also handle customer service tasks, which helps keep our overheads down.

It would still be significantly more cost-effective in nearly every scenario to enlist the help of a friend or a "helping hand" service to bring your computer to our office.

Even if your primary concern is the physical challenge of transporting your computer due to a disability or age, it would still be significantly more cost-effective in nearly every scenario to enlist the help of a friend or a "helping hand" service to bring your computer to our office.

We firmly believe that offering our customers fair prices and swift service is paramount.

It's not financially viable for us.

As expensive as house calls are for customers, they don't contribute to the profitability of our small business. When one of our limited staff members is at a customer's home, they cannot tackle other repairs simultaneously. Additionally, our technicians cannot perform customer service duties while on a house call, further impacting our efficiency.

We carefully evaluated the financial implications before discontinuing in-home services. We found that we were losing money on nearly every house call. This loss ultimately has a detrimental effect on our pricing structure, which isn't fair to any of our customers.

It compromises the quality of service.

We've built a stellar reputation in Davidson County and its surrounding areas by providing fair pricing, exceptional service, and top-notch work complemented by friendly, personable interactions. Offering in-home services would require us to make sacrifices in one or more areas, potentially compromising the high standards we've upheld for years. We're committed to maintaining the same level of excellence that our customers have come to expect from us.
